The Landing

You ascend the grand staircase in the centre of The Entrance Hall, and as you climb higher, you emerge from the gas-lit gloom of the entrance below into an altogether more inviting and carefree atmosphere. Two pairs of gold coins spin mysteriously on either side of the staircase, as if waiting for someone to reach out and collect them, and a large painting of what looks like a bomb with legs hangs on the far wall. The painting has an odd, porous quality to it, and the surface seems to ripple slightly as you stare at it… All around you, the walls of The Landing are painted a fetching sky blue, and anthropomorphic fluffy white clouds have been drawn at regularly spaced intervals, each with tiny, unblinking eyes.

Directly in front of you is a large wooden door with a big, central keyhole, although it seems to be unlocked. To the left lies a wooden door with an enormous star painted on it.
